Exploring Arizona in Autumn

There is nothing in this world that screams “let’s go outside to explore” like the fresh, crisp wind that comes during autumn in Arizona. With average highs of 88 degrees Fahrenheit and average lows of 65 degrees Fahrenheit in the autumn, this time of year is best for outdoor explorations.

Arizona’s summers are so hot the sun can melt you in a matter of seconds, Winters are too cool for total comfort, and the spring brings a lot of humidity.

Though autumn brings perfect weather in Arizona, it’s best to stay ready! Do so with these tips below!

Always Check the Weather

This seems obvious but this simple task can slip your mind in the wake of a new adventure. Knowing what you are about to get into is the best way you can prepare yourself. Turn on your local tv station or open an app on your phone to check the weather.

Some days may be colder than others in autumn and it will be super helpful to know if you need to wear an extra layer for protection.

Find the Best Gear

When exploring Arizona’s beautiful landscape, it's a great idea to wear the right gear. A little Google search or a quick look in a National Geographic magazine just might lead you to the right pair of exploration boots or a jacket that you will need for autumn weather.

The right shoes will protect your feet, offer support, and not leave you with blisters.

Protect Your Skin

Though autumn is still cooler than the infamous summer heat, the sun can still damage the skin. The sun is extremely powerful and it can cause damage even if it is completely cloudy! Almost 80 percent of the sun’s UV rays can pass through clouds on an overcast day. When these rays penetrate the skin, it causes damage and may leave you sunburned!

It’s best to pack sunscreens with SPFs of 50 or more, pack multiple bottles of water, and wear clothes that cover your skin. Better safe than sorry!

Invest in a Good Jacket

You never know when Arizona is going to be a little colder than expected. Though it is still warm enough during autumn to go without, it is best to bring a jacket on your adventure just in case the temperature drops at night. During the night it tends to get a couple of degrees colder than the daytime. Temperatures can quickly drop too low 50’s degrees Fahrenheit. Preparation is key!

Bring Your Raincoat

Though monsoon season ends around August or September in Arizona, things can still get a little wet. Bring a raincoat or an umbrella with you on your adventure to stay dry. Getting wet and cold is not a fun way to end your exploration.

Plan an Autumn Adventure

Since October is not the busiest time for travel and tourism in Arizona, it’s one of the best times to visit or adventure. Summer’s heat and popularity for traveling has its benefits, but autumn’s cooler temperatures will be more comfortable for hikes, ATV tours, and general outdoor exploring. Grab a jacket and recruit your family and friends for an autumn adventure!

Autumn weather in Arizona is one of the best times of the year to begin exploring! With these tips in mind, you can enjoy the amazing terrain of Arizona.
