Adventurous Sports for the Active Spirit

Are traditional sports not adventurous enough for you? At Arizona ATV Adventures, we love to get our fill of the outdoors through any means possible--including extreme sports! If you’re looking for a little more excitement in your workout, or want an engaging way to get your adrenaline pumping, these are the best sports and activities to satisfy any adventurous spirit. 


Although it’s the least extreme activity on the list, hiking is a fantastic way to get a peaceful outdoor experience. It’s also a great option if you love walking or jogging, and are looking for a way to mix up your exercise routine. Challenge yourself by taking different trails and hills with steeper, more difficult climbs. 

If you have experience hiking and are looking for something more extreme, hike a fourteener! A fourteener is a mountain park with an elevation of at least 14,000 feet. There are a total of 96 fourteeners in the U.S., with the majority of them residing in Colorado. Keep in mind that fourteeners are only for the most dedicated and experienced hikers and climbers. It’s not for every adventurer. 

Mountain Biking

Hiking may be too slow for active adventurers. For those wanting a faster pace while sticking to mountain trails, try mountain biking! Get off the streets and start exploring new challenging terrain. Just remember to bring all the essential safety equipment and plenty of water!

Dirt Biking

The next level of biking gets a lot faster, and more dangerous. Ditch the mountain bike and start cruising with a motorized dirt bike. While it’s less demanding physically, dirt biking can be a lot of fast-paced fun. Riding dirt bikes can be a great hobby to pour yourself into. Getting all the necessary safety equipment, riding gear, and bike maintenance can eat up a lot of time and money, but most fans agree it’s a very fulfilling activity. 

Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is an easily pursuable hobby. If you don’t happen to live near a mountain, many gyms across the United States are beginning to offer indoor rock climbing as an additional workout option. While rock climbing may seem intimidating at first, it is an incredibly safe activity as long as all safety requirements are satisfied. If you’re afraid of heights, however, this may not be an adventure for you.

While not technically considered a sport, nothing gives you more of an adrenaline rush than jumping out of a plane. Almost anyone can ride tandem-style with a professional jumper to make sure you’re safe.
